New Insulation Regulations - part L....
New Water Saving Regulations - parts G1 & G2....

NEW INSULATION REGULATIONS
The new Part L of the Building Regulations covers conservation of fuel and power. The emphasis on insulation and the loss of heat and power will be stronger than ever. The 2010 proposal for a further 25% emission reduction for 'so called' energy efficient buildings will undoubtedly pose a significant challenge in insulating the fabric of the building. Double Glazing will need to increase the u-value to a higher rating.

NEW WATER SAVING REGULATIONS - G-1 and G-2 will come into force in 2010 for new homes. G-1 distinguishes between quality of water needed for drinking, cooking, bathing, which require 'wholesome' water, and water used for toilet flushing and irrigation 'non-wholesome water' by rainwater harvesting. G-2 reflects the consumption of 'wholesome' water and must not exceed 125L per person per day by using dual flush toilets, low baths, and showers. This is to reduce mains water consumption by 75L per day.
